In "Powerful Design and Personal Color in Cold Wax and Oils online class, I do have several lessons that cover technique but as far as using brushes is concerned and the "drippy painting technique", I usually only use brushes and this technique on large scale work, which we are not doing in this course. The mixture really needs to be thinned down with 50:50 gamsol:galkyd to be able to use a paintbrush; this allows the paint to be more "drippy". This is what I do whenever using a brush with cold wax/oils. Otherwise, it would be next to impossible to use a brush as the mixture is pretty thick!
