According to Golden Artist Colors,

"Acrylic gesso and acrylic paint contains ingredients that take a while to escape- primarily, ammonia.  Acrylic dries by water evaporation, but “cures” when all evaporative chemicals escape the dry paint film.  That’s the reason Golden Artists Colors recommends the following when using oils over an acrylic underpainting (including “gesso”).   You can read about this on Golden’s website:

When I paint with cwm/oil over an acrylic underpainting, I first cover the whole surface with Clear Gesso made by Liquitex. I let this dry thoroughly, and then proceed to paint with the cwm/oils.
