Working back into a dry cold wax painting, how do I reactivate the surface?

After speaking with the experts at Gamblin Colors, they recommend the thin layer of CWM over the top of a dry painting as there is a very small amount of solvent in it (Gamsol), and it makes the surface more receptive to the next wet layer of paint, so as far as I understand, it improves surface adhesion and integrity of the layers. :)
