To make faux encaustic finishes for acrylic paintings (mix ahead): Option #1. Combine 6 oz regular matte gel with 2 T water. Add six drops of interference blue, one drop of iridescent gold (fine). This will replicate the yellowish appearance of unrefined wax. This formula is thick and should be applied with a palette knife. Option #2: Combine 2 oz soft gel gloss with .5oz soft gel matte. Add about 1.5 oz water, four drops of interference blue (fine) and one drop of iridescent gold (fine). Apply by pouring a puddle onto the painted surface and spread gently with a palette knife or spreading tool. This will replicate the white appearance of refined beeswax.
