I like to use the crock pot when making my own encaustic medium. When it is finished, I put a sieve lined with several layers of cheesecloth over the top of the crock pot, and after pouring the finished Encaustic Medium into the Crockpot, it stays nice and warm as I ladle it into silicone molds. So, the crock pot serves as a warm container to pour the clarified, filtered encaustic medium into. You can also use a crock pot to heat up a large amount of wax to paint with. Choose a crock pot that has a high and low setting so you can monitor the temperature!
